Hey guys! I’m back with a build for the Control Wizard in Mod 9 and this time it’ll be even better!
Please note that I am not maxed and will only change a few things from this build. I will note the possible changes along with the permanent changes that will be made. I am on the Xbox One in Mod 9 and will be updating this once I have the boons from Mod 10. Also, I won’t be giving many decisions for readers to make, this is my exact build but feel free to change to what works best for you. Feel free to comment thoughts and ideas as well as if this is useful or not.
Not going into too much details here.
All points went into INT and CHA.
All enchantments equipped are Rank 8 – Rank 10. I have 0 Rank 11s.

Made the actives blue since yellow doesn’t show very well on white.
These are the only points I need but unfortunately the game makes you put more. I am not going any more into detail than this though as it is literally the only powers I use. The powers with the same button mapping I only switch before bosses to do single target otherwise I remain on AoE attacks.
Feats and Boons:
With the picture in play, it is quite self explanatory. A key note that I will still point out however; the Heroic feat Focused Wizardry plays really smoothly with the 2 Paragon feats: Abyss of Chaos and Phantasmal Destruction. Using these together allows single target to actually keep up with our AoE damage too at least when running with a group. Using a Dread Enchantment just makes things even better too as the encounters hit harder.
Although Elvish Fury will only be partially in effect during dungeon runs, it still plays a huge part running dailies especially solo.
By far the most useful set of boons around, the 20k damage and the 4k Power and Life Steal are just amazing especially for this build.
Again, although the Winter’s Bounty is not active 24/7 it is less effective in some ways but because of the total kills earned in a dungeon this is still the best for the class and when paired with a Spell Storm spamming Oppressive Force it comes in handy much more than 10%.
In the image I am hovering over Dragon’s Thirst because Fury (last I checked) is bugged and does not actually give you the Critical Severity that it says it does on the 3rd point so I would place it here in Thirst. That being said 1/3 Thirst and 2/3 in Fury.
Self explanatory, all the others pretty much suck… only other one I would consider using is killing demons outright but its based on HP already gone and I’ve never seen it one shot or even take down half health so it doesn’t sound too useful to me. 10% base damage is way better.
Critical Strike at the moment is something that I am slightly lacking, I will still probably be using this forever though just because it helps more than the other ones.
Again, Critical is something I am a little lower on so it helps and compared to the others this is way better.
-All self explanatory as you can just read through the boons as you’re working on copying or customizing.
I didn’t take a picture of the Guild Boons because it would be 3 pictures when I could type it and save the hassle…
Power: 6,000 Life Steal 6,400 and Mount Speed 24%
From left to right,
Earth Archon – 4% damage while at full health. (with the amount of life steal I have and running with a good team this is usually active or always)
Young Yeti – Taking damage gives 5% more damage, it’s only a 10% chance to proc but it comes in handy.
Air Archon – 3% damage when targets are not at full health. Pretty much everything ever.
Fire Archon – 7% damage when targets are below 50%. During boss fights this helps a ton.
Erinyes of Belial – 5% Critical Severity. Minor bonus at the moment, but still useful.
Fire Archon active because of the 3 offense slots, +4 Ring of Brutality and Personalized Adamant Ring of Piercing for the 1 offense 1 defense slot. Barbarian Companion’s Talisman defense slot. Bonding Runestones all at R10 and in offense using 2 Azure Enchants and defense using 3 Dark Enchants.
Note: If they ever fully make it to where any sudden stat rings no longer work on the companion I will be switching back to another personalized adamant ring for the 1 offense and 1 defense slot, might switch back even if they don’t fix it but for now this is what I’m using.
-These are my mid range stats solo. Power can still go up based on Elvish Fury and Madness. Critical can reach 23,000 with the Batphomet’s Might and Gale of Retribution and Sudden Precision. Armor Pen is up almost 2k from companion. Recover and Action Point Gain are up much higher because of the Artifact use and mount bonus. Life Steal only goes up 2k currently, hopefully will get it up to 15k to 16k.
Mounts and Mount Bonuses:
I currently have 2 mounts purchased from the Zen Market and 1 free from events also from the Zen Market (Heavy Howler, Shadow Wolf, Winter Wolf)
Axe Beak – Artificer’s Persuasion: Using an Artifact Power increases Recovery, Movement, Action Point Gain, and Stamina Gain by 10% of your Power for 15 Seconds.(+2,648 ATM). Very useful as without using the Sigil of Devoted I can get my daily back within 15 seconds every time I use my Lantern of Revelations.
Shadow Wolf – Wanderer’s Fortune: Killing enemies has a chance to drop any kind of Refinement. Using till I am maxed then looking into a different mount since the other bonus on this mount is not good for class.
Heavy Howler – Survivor’s Blessing: Deflecting an attack heals 3% of your Max HP over 4 seconds (732 HP/s). Sucks but I don’t have a replacement and as the Shadow Wolf the other bonus is useless till I get a Legendary Mount.
Winter Wolf – Protector’s Friendship: When the companion attacks, gain 1% of your power and defense for 10 seconds. Stacks 4x. (246 Power per stack)
Black Stallion – Gladiator’s Guile: Move 15% faster when Stamina is above 75% and increases Stamina Gain when below 25%. Useful until I max and can switch to Dark Enchantments in Utility.
Currently the worst mount I have is the Heavy Howler and one of the only reasons I use it is because it is giving me +2,000 Critical Strike and the alternate bonus Cavalry’s Warning, which gives buffs when using a Mount Combat Power that only comes with having a legendary mount. At the moment I would change out the Shadow Wolf for a Legendary mount and then switch to Cavalry’s Warning so that it would actually be useful.
Another change is that I want to get my Winter Wolf upgraded to a mount with Protector’s Camaraderie for the added bonus of 2% per stack. Also the Black Stallion will be changed out once I can replace my Dragon Hoard Enchantments with Dark Enchantments to match the speed bonus.
Small section to calculate the Stats that my Insignias are giving me so there is little to no confusion on certain stats.
- Axe Beak: 300 Armor Pen, 150 AP Gain.
- Shadow Wolf: 200 Armor Pen, 100 AP Gain, 200 Defense, 100 Incoming Healing Bonus.
- Heavy Howler: 100 Defense, 100 Armor Pen, 100 Movement, 50 Stamina/Guard Gain, 50 AP Gain, 50 Incoming Healing Bonus.
- Winter Wolf: 200 Power, 100 Companion Influence, 100 Defense, 50 Incoming Healing Bonus.
- Black Stallion: 100 Defense, 100 Armor Pen, 100 Movement, 50 Stamina/Guard Gain, 50 AP Gain, 50 Incoming Healing Bonus.
Changes to come:
- With the Legendary Offhand upgrade will come another Dark Enchantment in a Defense Slot.
- Utility Slots will be changed to Dark Enchantments.
- Might change the Dread Enchantment for a Vorpal Enchantment, depends on what my stats are at by the time I would be able to make such trade.
- Possibly changing Rings to Rising Power and Rising Precision.
- All Companions to Epic with the summoned to Legendary. Not sure what the summoned companion will be, if there is ever going to be anything better or more useful than what I have.
- I would love to get my hands on a Black Ice Warhorse for the +4,000 Power and Legendary Combat Power.
- Eventually after all of my Mounts are situated I would like to get all of my current Insignias to Epic as most of mine are Rare and possibly get them to be more useful than what they are.
- Once mod 10 is released I will look into the new 150 Gear that drops from Fangbreakers Retreat but for now DF gear will do.
