Alright well some guildies were asking for me to post this so here it is, my destroyer build for the most dps, we will start with Feats as it is the core of any build.
so the Heroic feats are spent almost exclusively in damage increasing feats, we have Unstoppable Action, and Disciple of Strength in our first tier, this gives us huge action point gain while we have Unstoppable active, we will grab Endless Assault in the second tier which later on will stack with Destroyer’s Purpose for a total of 16% encounter damage, Steely defense is our third tier pick, for me it ends up being about 480 power, next our final points occupy Weapon Mastery, and Devastating Critical for maximum crit potential.
Now if you are a non human you can skip a point in Armor Specialization and in Steely Defense to keep points in Devastating Critical and Weapon Mastery.
Now for our Paragon Feats, first we are gonna go through Destroyer so let’s focus on that, our first pick is Deep Gash, it’s potential with a high crit dmg build is insane, and will jump even higher once we finish our build, next Great Weapon Focus will ensure our At-Wills are at their best, now on to second tier, we grab Disciple of War, just to reduce how much ArP we need from gear, which in the end won’t be much, and now we jump straight to fourth tier grabbing Focused Destroyer, it’s static 12% damage boost at all times is unmatched, now our final point in destroyer is obvious, Destroyer’s Purpose will synergize well with both Endless Assualt, and Unstoppable Action.
Now for our last 10 points, these points are the most important, as they are often wasted, for my build i want to be doing as much damage as possible, the best choice for this is Student of the Sword, it’s defense reduction will help everyone not just you, and our last 5 will be dumped in Vicious Advantage, this feat seems fairly inconsequential, but while we have Combat Advantage and full stacks of both Weapon Master and Destroyer our crit chance will reach over 50% and our raw damage bonus for every ability we use will hit 32%.
Now let’s go over gear optimization, the Feats may be the core of any build, but your choice in gear will decide how far you can take a build.
here are my raw stats, without a stone or any buffs, now many of these numbers need to be higher to be optimal, which we will go over later, for now let’s look at attributes and why i picked what i did, and what races you can pick to optimize these stats.
STR is put up first, now i put my 2 points into this stat as a human, because it gives 16.96% more damage for me (that factors in Disciple of Strength), no gear in the game can replace the STR stat.
CON our next major score is left fairly low, the reason for this is because ArP can be gotten in a myriad of ways and has a fixed cap of 24%
DEX should be the next highest score next to STR, it gives us some nice defensive utility while also allowing us to break crit cap which no other stat in the game let’s us do.
RACES: in this section we will look at races and see what our best choices are, Half-Orc is our strongest pick, it gives us 2 STR and 2 DEX, and 5% Crit severity, these bonuses cannot be beaten by any other race, but don’t worry as more than just Half-Orcs are very viable picks.
The next most viable race is Human, it grants +2 to any attribute (which will be STR), it provides 3 Heroic feats, which ends up being 1% crit, 4% more power from defense, and 5% increased defense and AC effectiveness, and we get 3% defense boost, which won’t end up being more than 60-80 usually but don’t forget it also converts to power.
My next pick would be Drow, probably best suited for HR or TR but they can work within the confines of a GWF +2 DEX is great for this build, and Darkfire works wonder if you are the only Drow in the group, stacking well with Student of the Sword.
And finally Tiefling, they are usually better as tanks for GWF but they offer some decent bonuses, + 2 CON means they need less ArP, they also deal 5% more damage to target below half, and they can reduce enemy power by 5%.
So we have
Half-Orc: Highly Recommended.
Drow: Solid Pick.
Teifling: Decent Pick.
Now if you wish to venture away from these 4 choices when picking race remember it will not be optimal, though Haflings and Dwarfs are also fairly solid races just not great for this build.
Now that we have a race and our feats laid out before us, let’s look at stat optimization and what we can do to improve, now the first major factor when looking at my stats, is that my Recovery seems low, but with this build you should always be running Avatar of War, as it will let us treat our effective stats as if we had the 4 piece, which adds 1350 recovery and power.
Now you may be wondering, where do i stop with stats? well that is a good question and varies by build, for this build we will want around 3500 crit which will put us over 50% with CA, 24% ArP (Which CON is factored into) and 1150-1650 recovery, after that the only important stat is power, but worry about it last as it is the weakest stat until the others are capped.
Also don’t forget to get a Ioun Stone of Allure, here are the stats i’m getting from my stone alone just to show why stone is so important, the only limitation of stone is stats from it will NOT be modified by feats like Steely Defense or Disciple of War.
Armor Pen: 370
Now we are gonna go over Features/Abilities.
Features: now obviously we will always have Weapon Master and Destroyer slotted as our features, the only exception to this is if you are kiting adds, which should be left to our tanky brethren if given the choice, but if you are the only one available to do such a task you will need to slot Bravery and Ferocious Reaction.
Dailies: These are pretty obvious choice really, Indomitable Strength is our best single target daily, and slam interrupts enemies and is decent for AoE pulls, the only ability you can swap here is Slam for Spinning Strike, which is also a very solid pick, other than that leave it be.
Encounters: Not so Fast may seem like an odd choice, but for clearing trash it will allow you to activate AoW immediately, and many bosses have adds you can abuse with this ability so it stay part of our main toolkit, although Come and Get it is also a very viable option and should be strongly considered, the only exception to swapping these abilities if for single target fights, in which case Restoring Strike is your best friend.
Next we have Frontline Surge, the only downside to this ability is that it knocks enemies back a small distance, so you will need to time it to ensure it doesn’t interfere with any other classes abilities, other than that this ability is one of our best, it’s prone effect high damage and ranged capabilities make it one of our strongest choices.
Finally Indomitable Battlestrike, our hardest hitting encounter in the game, that’s all there is to this ability, and it will never be swapped for anything.
At-Wills: Wicked Strike is our main AoE ability, try to get as many enemies within it’s grasp as you can, the only downside to this ability is that it can cause rubber banding when you try to move immediately after using it, so be careful, this ability should also never be swapped out, there is no replacement other than WMS which is not available for this build.
The last ability we will look at is Threatening Rush, which is by far our best single target At-Will, possibly in the entire game, it not only charges up to your target as a gap closer, it also marks targets and deals about 400 more base damage than sure strike, though do take into account the Sure Strike is better if you wish to avoid animation canceling.
Also this is in no way meant as a disrespect to Geflin i consider him one of the best GWF on the server and simply posted this to highlight the build i’m using, this is a full MC run we raced in to test damage.
